Abstract

Religion in any age and in any historical period is a complex and ancient form of society's consciousness.
Although Islam began to take root on the territory of Kazakhstan during the Karakhanids, it was widely spread in the public life and social sphere of the Kazakh people later. From the many ethnographic sources available to us, we can see that in the pre-Soviet period, Islam was widely (almost radically) rooted in Kazakh customs and traditions. Islam has become traditional not only in traditions, but also in the common law of the people (i.e. Kazakhs) in Kazakhstan. In the Kazakh steppe, Sharia laws were used not only in rules, but also in life. With the advent of the Soviet Union, the Islamic religion completely lost its status. As a result of atheistic propaganda after the great Patriotic war, open statements in the media about the problems of "ignorance" changed the public consciousness, not only did the people no longer obey the laws of Sharia, but also in everyday life were replaced by Islamic influence (for example, a wedding with religious customs-marriages, fasting, donations, zakat)
