The article addresses relevant issues of teaching in schools of historical subjects on the updated program , its goals, objectives, requirements, methods and techniques. The application of interactive methods and methods of organizing the educational process are considered at the example of teaching "History of Kazakhstan" and "World History". The article presents a brief analysis of the situation in historical science and the problems of teaching the history of Kazakhstan and "world history" on the updated program as a whole. Methodological approaches in the teaching process are presented. The main tasks for improving the quality of historical education are also outlined.
