The article is devoted to the problems of the historiography of history, namely the study of the liberation movement. A systematic analysis of the historiography of the liberation movement directed against the colonialism of the tsarist government during the political crisis of the Khan's rule of the younger Zhuz is given. Historiography speaks of a popular uprising led by the Sultan of Dosaly, who became famous as the "Invisible Man." This in turn represents the scientific novelty of subsequent research. The article provides an analysis of the works devoted to this historical figure.
