Medieval Saraishyq - the capital of the Kazakh Khanate
Abstract

The article examines the history of the study of ceramic products of the Golden Horde city of Saraishyk. Saraishyk is one of the cities with flourishing education and science, developed crafts and trade, located on the Great Silk Road connecting East and West in the XIII-XVII centuries. It is located on the right bank of the Zhaiyk River at the intersection of many roads. In the Middle Ages, ceramic production went through new stages of development, its types increased. The production of pottery in the Ural cities, as well as in Saraishyk, was greatly influenced by pottery vessels that arrived by transit caravans and vessels for transporting goods. This is evidenced by the signs of pottery production in the Crimea, the Caucasus, the Lower Volga region and Khorezm found in the Urals. On the outside of the khum, found 2 fathoms deep at the site of the Saraishyk settlement in 1909, excerpts from the didactic poem "Kutadgu Bilig" by the outstanding poet of the East Yusuf Balasaguni, published in the XI century, were written.

Various forms of unglazed red clay ceramics dominate numerically in the ceramic complex of Saraishyk, followed by glazed red clay and kashin ceramics, as well as imported samples. An integral part of this complex is the architectural decor.
