In protest against the repressive approaches of socio-economic and political reforms carried out by the Soviet authorities in the 1920s and 30s, a significant part of the population of the republic was forced to migrate to neighboring countries, which eventually turned into mass starvation. The study and transformation of this historical phenomenon into historical knowledge is one of the topical topics of national history. The purpose of the study is to identify the historical place and features of the phenomenon of migrations in the history of repression and turn it into scientific knowledge. In accordance with this, the task of conducting pedagogical research on the inclusion of research results in the curriculum is being solved. Results: analyses were carried out on archival documents and memorabilia, the causes and consequences of the phenomenon of forced migration that took place in the south of Kazakhstan were revealed. The directions of resettlement and settlement zones were clarified. An archival database related to migration was created; the descendants of nomads were interviewed, their memories were collected and analyzed. To transform the research results and conclusions into historical knowledge, the content of the discipline of choice "The history of migration in the south of Kazakhstan in the 1920s-1930s" was formed.A training program has been developed. Conclusion: As the results of scientific and pedagogical research have shown, it is proved not the spontaneous, but the organizational nature of the forced migration that took place in the 20-30s of the last century, as a counteraction to Soviet reforms. Conclusions were put forward that migration can be considered as an important factor that preserved the gene pool of the nation.
