The article analyzes some problems of political persecution during the period of Soviet Kazakhstan, in particular, the spiritual heritage of the repressed intellectuals of the city of Shymkent, their articles that have not lost their historical significance, is considered as much as possible. At the same time, the authors of the article, as far as possible, tried to reveal all the horrors of repression through the facts of valuable documents and materials of periodicals of the archives of Southern Kazakhstan, which have not yet been published.

Also, the creativity and work of people whose names are still unknown to our country have not been left without attention. Positive assessments are given to their rich scientific heritage based on significant works in the Soviet press of the enlighteners of Southern Kazakhstan, preserved in the rare collection of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The authors also focus on the importance of the heritage of the Shymkent inteligence on the pages of the newspaper "Ak Zhol".
