Abstract

The collection of prehistoric material culture finds, obtained at the Karasor-2 site during a stationary study of the Karasor archaeological object during the 1999 field season, is being put into scientific circulation. A group of Karasor monuments is located in the upper Tobol river basin, near Lisakovsk. At the Karasor-2 site, finds represented by fragments of ceramics and stone products were collected from the surface due to the destruction of the cultural layer. In the article descriptive characteristics of the ceramics is given, while the stone tools were investigated with technical and typological method. Since the ceramics fragments found at the Karasor-2 site are too small, the main emphasis in determining the time and cultural affiliation of the collected materials was made based on the results of the technical and typological analysis of the stone industry. The author came to the conclusion that the stone industries of the Mesolithic and Late Eneolithic periods were left on the considered monument. At the same time, the complex of stone tools, having direct analogies with the Tersek culture stone industry, correlates with the last period. The time range of the collection of stone tools and ceramics taken from the surface at the Karasor 2 site during the 1998–1999 field seasons is presumably determined by the period from the Mesolithic Finale to the Bronze Age.
