The article is dedicated to the life and work of Bekmakhanov Yermukan Bekmakhanovich (1915-1966) - historian, outstanding scientist, doctor of historical sciences, professor, corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR, public figure. E. Bekmakhanov is a talented scientist who has written fundamental research. Ermukhan Bekmakhanov was one of those who helped raise the level of history of Kazakhstan to a professional level. E. Bekmakhanov wrote the first methodological and practical works on teaching the “History of Kazakhstan” in schools and universities. The first professional historian E. Bekmakhanov died at the age of fifty. He left behind a rich scientific heritage, proven methods and research experience, symbols of thought about critical periods and events of Kazakh history.
