Marat Zhaksybaevich Hasanaev - public figure of the Republic of Kazakhstan, historian and archivist, 1980-1994 and 2000 to 2002 he worked as the Director of the Central state archive of the Republic of Kazakhstan, head of the main archival administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 1994-1996, one of the authors of the Law «On National archive Fund and archives». The article discusses the organizational activities of M. Khasanayev, under his leadership, the archive improved scientific and methodological work, purposeful and intensive work was carried out with the sources of completing the archive. He spoke openly about the problems of the archive industry, such as the need for archival legislation, the problem of archives, the low salary of archive employees, and cooperation with foreign archives.
In the article great attention is also paid to the research and archaeological activities as a scientist. He took part in declassification of archival documents, revealed the "white spots" of the history of
