The study of the process of rehabilitation of citizens of Kazakhstan who were innocently repressed for political reasons is closely related to the task of more fully revealing the essence of totalitarianism and freeing society from its destructive heritage. Consideration of this problem will help us to overcome the stereotypes left over from the administrative and command system, to form a new morality and legal consciousness, without which it is impossible to create an atmosphere of respect for the person, a single comprehensive mechanism for the protection of human rights and freedoms. It was the policy of rehabilitation that formed the basis for the moral and legal revival of the Soviet society in the past and the Kazakh society in the present. The study of the history of rehabilitation is important not only for the history of the Kazakhs, but also for all the peoples of the world, so that there is no repetition of such relapses in the present.In our opinion, more attention is paid to the study of the history of political repression during the years of Stalinist terror, and the process of rehabilitation of repressed citizens, its course and consequences have fallen out of the field of view of social scientists. This led to the fact that the historical process was studied in an incomplete volume, the logical interconnectedness of historical events was violated: the focus of attention of researchers was only political repression, and the rehabilitation of repressed citizens remained in the shadows.
