Abstract
The article uses the concepts of "national idea" and "state idea" in parallel. The relationship of these two concepts requires clarification. In countries such as multinational Russia, a national idea does not mean an ethnic one. And for a mono-national Kazakh society, the "National Idea" is as close as possible to the interests of the national-state Kazakh nation. This was especially characteristic of the period of formation of the Kazakh national identity in the early twentieth century. It was published in the Republic of Turkestan as a printing organ of the central government (1920-1925).) The newspaper "Ak Zhol" worked not only as a propagandist of the national idea, but also as its shaper. The article will be devoted to the assessment of this historical phenomenon.
The polyethnic community that developed during the Soviet period gave this concept a new content, and at the present stage the concept of the national idea has emerged from a narrow ethnic range and acquired socio-cultural significance.
