PROBLEMS AND PROSPECTS OF CENTRAL ASIAN INTEGRATION

Published June 2021
Abstract

The article deals with the problems and contradictions of the integration processes of the Central Asian States. Regional integration is characterized as an alternative path to stability, progress, economic and military-political security, as well as to the growth of the authority of Central Asia in the world community.
Today, Central Asia has not only regained its importance as an East-West corridor, but has also become a promising developing partner of many countries of the world. This is confirmed by the active policy of the Central Asian States focused on close regional cooperation and multilateral international relations. What are the reasons that the Central Asian countries have come to integration as the main priority of their development? What influenced their choice, what fruits are they reaping today on this path? Many analysts, politicians and economists are now engaged in the analysis of these issues; part of the answers to them is supposed to give this article.
This issue is of particular importance for Central Asia, as this region is currently under the influence of internal needs and external factors most actively involved in the world economic and political processes. Although the States of Central Asia are located in a closed geographical space, do not have a well-established system of communications, and therefore do not have direct access to the markets of highly developed countries, nevertheless, the region attracts the attention of many countries of the world, primarily due to the presence of huge reserves of energy and water resources.
At the same time, developed countries are trying to implement their political and economic models and standards in the region as a whole and in individual States, which are not always accepted by the local community. The Kyrgyz Republic is particularly indicative in this respect, where Western models of democratization do not always work successfully. On the agenda there was a question of awareness of the relation to participation in world globalization, its problems and prospects, moreover, about development of the independent scenario of participation in globalization which on the one hand, is based on the resources which are incentives for integration of the region, and on the other hand, considers the specific factors interfering this process.
