The article discusses in detail the philosophical approaches to the interpretation of the concept of value. The author presents the genesis and evolution of views on the category of value and begins his research with antiquity, primarily with Socratic, Plato and Aristotelian understanding of value, organically linked with the concepts of "good", "beauty" and "morality". This tradition finds its continuation in the views of representatives of Hellenism. Reflections on the nature and role of values continue in the teachings of medieval thinkers, the Renaissance, the new age and enlightenment. The article emphasizes that these exercises address various aspects of the concept of value. If in the philosophy of the Middle Ages, theological axiology received its approval and development, then the new time and epoch of enlightenment brought with them new values. Thus, for many centuries, all new semantic concepts of value have been formed. The study of these concepts makes it possible to fully reveal the essence and content of values.
