In the field work of 2020, an archaeological expedition of the international scientific-research laboratory “Geoarcheology” at KazNU named after Al-Farabi carried out scientific-research work at the Kensai archaeological complex of the Zhambyl district of the Almaty region. Within the framework of the expedition, there were excavated archeological monuments of each period, stone boxes of the Bronze Age, mounds of the Uisun-Turkic period and burials of the late Middle Ages. In this article, the authors provide research results related to the Turkic time. When analyzing this object, it should be noted, judging by the found accompanying inventory, the investigated mound belongs to the Turkic period and is the burial of a warrior? with a horse (the burial turned out to be plundered, the bones of the human are almost absent). A preliminary analysis of the items of this military burial in the local region of Zhetysu clearly demonstrates the funeral rituals and subject complex of the developed Turkic culture of the X-XI centuries BC. The result obtained is an additional argument in favor of continuing the comprehensive archaeological study of the Zhetysu region.
