Abstract

The violent interference of tsarist Russia in the centuries-old way of life in Kazakhstan violates the existing order in all spheres of life, including religion. The colonial policy of Russia was accompanied, first of all, by the eradication of the achievements of indigenous peoples in the field of religion and culture and the establishment of their own order and adaptation of the local population to the imperial reality. After the end of the conquest of the southern regions, Tsarist Russia embarked on a plan for the gradual transition of religious policy from laissez-faire to strict regulation. This was due to fears that Islam could become an ideological weapon against successful colonization, so the tsarist plans pinned great hopes on the Christianization of the region.
