The article analyzes the works of S. Amanzholov on the history of the origin of the Turkic peoples. S. Amanzholov's serious thoughts on the history of the emergence and development of Turkic tribes are evaluated. In addition, a study of the scientist's works dedicated to the ethnogenesis of the Kazakh people was conducted. The objective thoughts of S. Amanzholov, who analyzed the works of scientists who studied the history of the Turkic peoples before him, are detailed in the article. In addition, it is noted that S. Amanzholov worked as a political leader during the Great Patriotic War and helped the troops from the Turkic-speaking peoples with translation issues. A significant part of the heritage of S. Amanzholov is devoted to topical issues of ethnogenesis of the Kazakh people, as well as the language sphere. During the study, information is given that the scientist studied historical data, compared it with the work of scientists who studied it before him, oral historiography of the people, genealogical data. The article describes in detail the study of the tribal structure of the Kazakh people, its constituent three zhuzs, their characteristic common features and the study of the ethnic and tribal composition of the individual Kazakh people. In addition, the analysis of the ethnic composition of the most ancient tribal composition of the Kazakh people is carried out: uysyns, dulats, alchyns, kereys, naimans, argyns, merkits, konyrats, jalayirs and kipchaks. S. Amanzholov's research on the formation of the three zhuzs of Kazakhs and the emergence of tribal unions, studying the language of some ancient tribes, is given a weighty assessment. The article provides a historical analysis of the scientist's opinion that in the IV-VIII centuries, having studied ancient writing in the Orkhon-Yenisei versions, some of these inscriptions may belong to dulats.
