Abstract

The article is devoted to revealing the role of Soviet women of the Aktobe region in ensuring Victory in the Great Patriotic War. A historiographical review of studies on this issue is conducted. The authors consider the selfless work and activities of women in key sectors of the economy during  the war. Women worked on the labor front, mastering various professions – driller, plumber, mechanics, turners, machinists, combine operators, miners, drivers of steam locomotives, tractors and cars, accountants, signalmen. Along with this, they mastered military specialties: nurses, pilots, tankers, machine gunners, sappers, scouts, and snipers.In the process of writing the article, the authors widely used previously unpublished documents from the funds of the State Archives of the Aktobe Region, materials from the periodical press, in particular the Aktyubinskaya Pravda newspaper, as well as memoir sources. Analyzing

The contribution of women in the region to the labor home front, the authors rely on statistical data. Special attention is paid to the heroic work of women in state and collective farms in the districts of the region. In addition, th role pf women Stakhanovites, who demonstrated leadership in the production processes of factories and plants and worked equally with men, is emphasized. When analyzing the problem, the historical and chronological approach, the principles of objectivity and consistency are observed
