Abstract

Mukhamet-Salyk Babazhanov is a prominent Kazakh intellectual who holds a unique place in the spiritual life and enlightenment movement of the Kazakh people. Living in the 19th century, he left an indelible mark not only on his own era but also on the historical consciousness of future generations. Babazhanov was one of the few enlightened figures who deeply understood the social, cultural, and political issues of Kazakh society at the time and strived to awaken the people and call them to knowledge and culture.

He had a profound understanding of the political structure of the Russian Empire and the true nature of colonial policy, and he used his pen as a weapon in defending the interests of the Kazakh people through several significant works. Mukhamet-Salyk Babazhanov’s journalistic legacy paved the way for scientific studies of the historical and ethnographic features, everyday life, traditions, and social conditions of the Kazakh people.

Babazhanov’s greatness as a person was reflected in his loyalty to his people and his dedication to educational service. He gained the sincere respect of his contemporaries and rose to the level of a national intellectual of his time. His creative and public activities made a significant contribution to the awakening of Kazakh society and the formation of national consciousness. This article provides a comprehensive analysis of Mukhamet-Salyk Babazhanov’s life, educational work, and historical heritage, aiming to highlight his place among Kazakh intellectuals.
