The article examines the development of the Kazakh press in the Turkestan Republic in 1918-1925 based on comprehensive archival material. In its work to educate the Kazakh people, the Kazakh intelligentsia, as in other countries, paid primary attention to the development of the Kazakh press. In particular, the national intelligentsia of that time also gave its assessment of the issue of increasing the literacy of the local population of Turkestan and providing them with education, sharply criticized the gaps and shortcomings in education in the republic. The tone of the articles published in the Birlik Tui newspaper, published in Turkestan, corresponded to the tone of the Kazakh newspaper, and information that the Alash figures followed this direction was supported in the article by archival documents.

In 1922-1923, the newspapers "Turkestan" in Uzbek, "Ak Zhol" in Kazakh, "Turkestanskaya Pravda" in Russian and many other republican newspapers were published in Tashkent, including "Inkilob" in Uzbek, "Turkmen Tli" in Turkmen, "Sholpan" in Kazakh and others. The magazines were published twice a month. To analyze the important role of the press service, which called for the unity of the Kazakh people for the local population, the authors of the article widely use archival documents, and also cite the original texts published in the press, introducing them into scientific circulation. The article comprehensively examines the prerequisites for the development of the Kazakh press in the Republic of Turkestan and analyzes them from the standpoint of today.
