The discovery of many new written sources and archaeological artifacts related to the history of medieval Turkic-Muslim states allows us to look at the history of the Turkish people from a new angle and comprehensively solve little-studied or unstudied problems. At the same time, information about the history of the Golden Horde by the Tatar historian, thinker and orientalist Sh. Mardjani does not lose its relevance. In 1885, he wrote the work “Mustafad al-akhbar fi ahvali Kazan va Bolgar” (“Collection of data on the history of Kazan and Bolgar”), which was immediately recognized by researchers of that time as the most valuable and masterpiece historical work. In this work, describing the history of Central Asia until the XIXth century, Sh. Mardjani began to describe not only the history of the Turkic peoples, but also their culture, legends, poems and tales passed down from their ancient ancestors. The history of the Golden Horde state was first told not only on the basis of medieval historical sources, but also from a numismatic and folklore point of view.

The purpose of the study is to differentiate the information related to the Golden Horde in the works of Sh. Mardjani, to show their relevance and features. Accordingly, the article examines the materials used by Sh. Mardjani in describing the history of the Golden Horde, the differences of the work from other studies, as well as the reasons for writing incorrect information due to the lack of historical sources or other reasons. For the first time, Sh. Mardjani's method of connecting the science of numismatics with sources is mentioned.
