The Organization of Turkish States is evolving into a strategic alliance with increasing effectiveness in Eurasian geography. The importance of regional integration initiatives is increasing in the context of the constantly changing structure of the international system. States seek to maximize their interests through a variety of organizations such as the European Union, the Eurasian Economic Union and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. The Organization of Turkish States, as a regional organization, is a very important entity for the Turkic world.
The interaction of the Turkic world began with small steps after the collapse of the Soviet Union and continues to expand today. Changes in the structure of the international system and regional developments make the Organization increasingly important. States cannot fight major challenges alone, such as the economic fallout from the Covid-19 epidemic and the energy and food crises exacerbated by the Ukraine-Russia conflict. In this context, the importance attached to the Organization of Turkic States by Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, members of this organization, especially Turkey, is increasing. Each of the states included in the organization has strategic advantages. Examples include Turkey's regional power and Azerbaijan's energy reserves. Therefore, it is important for the interests of each member state of the organization that states with strengths in various issues join forces within the organization. This study examined the historical development of the Organization of Turkic States, starting with the Summit of Turkic-Speaking Countries. The changes that integration efforts in the Turkic world have undergone throughout the historical process are analyzed.
