At present, in the educational process in Kazakhstan, the goal of forming students or students as a multifaceted person in the framework of higher education and in general secondary education is given priority. In this regard, the development of cognitive abilities and cognitive activities of the student, as well as students in general, such as imagination, thinking, memory, attention, also plays a key role in shaping him as a "fully developed person." Therefore, the main task of modern pedagogical science is to monitor the formation and development of cognitive activity, cognitive abilities of students and pupils, to create conditions for the development of these.
The article considers some ways to develop students' critical thinking within the university, including in the course of history of Kazakhstan
