Abstract

The article describes the history of the Soviet period (1946-1960.) About Islamic religious holidays in the southern region of Kazakhstan, about their origin, celebration under strict Soviet ideology, about the opening of mosques and madrasahs, about the state of religious holidays in the era of the rise of atheism. The reasons for the ban on the celebration of officially recognized holidays, the ban on visiting the main places of pilgrimage on holidays, and the use of places of prayer for other purposes are considered for twenty years. The preservation of life, traditions and religious values within the post-war country is of great importance. 1946-1960 the celebration of Muslim holidays in between, the tax policy of imams, types of alms, types of religious holidays are given. Concrete examples of the continuity of religion and tradition: Eid al-Adha, requests for good wishes, naming a child, giving, raising according to gender, circumcision, marriage, divorce, burial, blessing, visiting the grave, respect for the dead, the concept of honest and dishonest in similar situations. The article analyzes the research works of domestic and foreign scientists. Documents from the funds of the Turkestan Regional State Archive and the Central State Archive of the Republic of Kazakhstan were used as the main sources. In the study of the religious situation in the southern region of Kazakhstan in the Soviet period, the methods of scientific examination, analysis and comparative research were widely used.
