In this article, along with the political and ideological situation in Kazakhstan during the period conventionally referred to as "stagnation", the national question in the activities of the creative intelligentsia is considered. In addition, the authors showed how the Kazakh intelligentsia, involuntarily guided by the Marxist-Leninist methodology, being in an unspoken conflict with the national policy of the Soviet system of that period, tried to solve the problem of preserving Kazakh education, science, history, literature, and national identity. In connection with these circumstances, the Decrees and decisions of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan were carefully analyzed. At the same time, the activities of Kazakh dissidents did not go unnoticed.

On the basis of the works of the creative intelligentsia and archival data, the totalitarian system, armed with false internationalist principles, was analyzed, which forbade, without censorship, the study of works related to the origin of the Kazakh people, highlighting the historical and geographical nature of national identity, ethnic genogeography, aesthetics of nomads. At a time when the system was based on the activity of an artificial ideology that supported its policy, Kazakh intellectuals, writers and scientists set themselves such tasks as the unification of nations, the unification of languages, made every effort to continue the continuity of generations by promoting the national idea with their creativity in the era political presentation. In the article, all data and conclusions are analyzed, proved on the basis of archival sources.
