Abstract

The article is devoted to some aspects of the repressive policy of the "red terror" widely used by the communist regime in Kazakhstan. The purpose of this article is to identify some moments of mass political repression from 1937 to 1946 based on materials from the village of Zhanalyk in the Talgar district of the Almaty region. Taking into account the relevance of the goal and the limited format of the study, the authors focused only on some aspects and consequences of the state’s bloody action in the designated years. The village of Zhanalyk, where victims of mass Stalinist political repressions were buried, is the largest burial in Kazakhstan, comprised of 4,121 individuals. Behind each surname there is a cruelly interrupted human life, irreparable losses of the people and the fate of individuals, as well as the family tragedy of Kazakhs, natives of near and far abroad. The people who found their last refuge here fell into the millstones of repression, as the bloody action of the state did not spare anyone. Considering these facts, the authors reviewed the main aspects and analyzed the general theoretical problems of political repression. The views of scientists who have considered the alleged dates of the execution of some individuals are analyzed. The analysis of the statuses (social strata, nationality, etc.) of the repressed and buried in the village of Zhanalyk was carried out. The percentage of repressed Kazakhs (Alash) is reasonably allocated from the total number of mass political victims.
