Abstract

The article comprehensively examines the issues of deprivation of voting rights of citizens during the election campaigns of the Aktobe region, which were held in the 20-30s. ofXX century. The Constitutions of 1918 and 1925 specifically specified the categories of citizens who were to be disenfranchised. They were based on representatives of the overthrown oppressive classes. In subsequent years, it was noticed that these categories of citizens in the pre-election and re-election campaigns are continuously increasing. In most cases, these measures were carried out outside the provisions and instructions of the electoral rules. Contradictions were made in the work of local election commissions. Members of the citizen's family who had previously been subjected to this punishment were subjected to disenfranchisement. The family members of the "disenfranchised" faced difficulties in finding employment, they could not receive social assistance, there were constant obstacles in studying at school, in universities, they could not even serve in the ranks of the Armed Forces. In such a tragic situation, the wife was forced to divorce her husband, and the son and daughter were forced to abandon their father. Based on new archival sources and materials, the article reveals in detail and analyzes the consequences of the campaign to deprive citizens of voting rights on the example of an event in the Aktobe region.
