Abstract

The Golden Horde contributed to the development of international relations between the countries of East and West, the strengthening of trade and cultural ties. Since the first quarter of the 19th century, the history of the Golden Horde has been studied by scientists from different countries, and for many it is obvious that the history of the Golden Horde is studied mainly in the context of Eastern sources. Western European sources also have their place in the study of the history of the Golden Horde. From Western sources, one can find original data on the territory and borders of the Golden Horde, the name of the state, cities, the development of its culture, as well as some issues of political history. A study based on Western data adds new facts to some aspects of this period. Western sources and historiography on the history of the Golden Horde can provide original new ideas and controversial views, enriching the heritage of the history of the Golden Horde.
