Published September 2022
Abstract

In the article, the biography of academician S. Baishev, who was recognized for his leadership in the social and political life of the country and the development of domestic humanitarian science during the Soviet rule, is analyzed on a documentary basis. The biography and creativity of the person who passed the career ladder from the senior researcher of the institute to the vice-president of the Academy of Sciences, from the rank-and-file political worker to the chairman of the Supreme Council developed in close connection with the interests of the Communist Party. This situation of the modern society, which has abandoned the communist ideology, is the basis for a protective attitude not only towards his personality, but also towards the party cadres who served in the high echelons of power. The analyzes made on this issue made sure that the knots in the biographies of individuals, which were unclear, will be solved by the most objective consideration. In order to clarify the problem, the study analyzes the theory and practice of the party-state nomenclature system, which became one of the main attributes of the Soviet totalitarian government. The moral and psychological character of a person who witnessed Stalin's political repression is evaluated. Conclusions are drawn about the political-ideological positions of the totalitarian society and the fate of Kazakh intellectuals in the state of party rule.
