The main purpose of the research work is the historical and cultural analysis of interesting, informative written sources concerning the multifaceted aspects of the history and ethnography of the Kazakh people. Special attention is paid to the scientific heritage of V. Von Gern, a researcher of the pre-revolutionary colonial period, a scientist who made a great contribution to the study of the history and ethnography of the Kazakh people.
One of the main objectives of the research is to reveal the significance of cultural and ethnographic values of the Kazakh society through the work of V. Von Gern. In this context, it is important to conduct a historiographical and source study of the researcher's records. This is due to the fact that many publications carried out by the scientist were insufficiently covered in the scientific field due to a number of reasons and the predominance of imperial privileges.
The relevance of the article is an assessment of the differences in the cultural and spiritual space of imperial approaches to cognition of the nomadic society of the colonial era. We know perfectly well that researchers of the tsarist Russia period received certain instructions and instructions from the authorities. Undoubtedly, a systematic study of the cultural and ethnographic structure of Kazakh society has opened up new opportunities for the colonial system. It should be noted that a number of researchers sought an objective opinion in the study of Kazakh society. As a result of the study, a comparative analysis of pre-revolutionary ethnographic records was carried out and we put forward an objective view of the historical content of V. Von Gern's scientific activity.
