The article analyzes the historical and social aspects of Iranian identity, the problems of interaction with historical changes, the problems of preserving national identity in the context of globalization. In addition, systemic features and main components of Iran's national identity were identified and analyzed. A significant place is given to the analysis of the causes and factors contributing to the crisis of national identity.

    The Iranian people, as a deeply rooted ethnic group, throughout history have faced unique processes in the formation of their national identity. The deep history of the Iranian people, territorial geography, the indispensable role of religion in the social life of the ancient and Islamic era, its continuity throughout history are considered the main components of Iran's national identity. For this reason, the three foundations that formed the national identity of Iran are today the deep foundations of the Iranian people, these are: - ancient Iran, which is the basis of national identity; - Islam, which in recent centuries has nurtured an important part of the elements that form the Iranian identity; -modernity, based on traditional Iranian ideas, has acquired a new tone. These symbols of national identity, in fact, contribute to the reduction of obvious differences and their unification, despite the individual, social and ethnic diversity in society. Focusing on these elements, a comparative analytical analysis was carried out in the article.
