The chronology and stages of development of regional associations based on the analysis
of foreign studies in the field of regional integration development are carried out. It is noted that
different authors are not the same in determining the stages and chronology of the development
of regional integration in the world. Special attention is paid to new regional associations such
as the "Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership" /CPTPP) and
the " Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership" / RCEP. The author's point of view on
the stages of development of regional integration is given, justified by the ongoing processes in
world politics and international relations, risks and challenges of the modern world.
The analysis of foreign studies of regional associations with a focus on the initial and
final stages of development is carried out. These are the works of W.Izard, who was at the
origins of the creation of regional science, K. Deutsch, E.Haas, D. Mitrani, J. Nye, B. Hettne, G.
Kebabdjian, B.Miller, X. Wu, A.Ahram, A. Orum, etc. Little-known names for Kazakh sociopolitical thought, such as T. Baudassé, T.Montalieu, J.-M. Ciroën, A. Hansen and others have
been introduced into scientific circulation.
Various theoretical concepts and approaches such as functionalism, institutionalism, and
economic regionalism are considered. General logical methods such as analysis, comparative and
descriptive methods, as well as an interdisciplinary approach that helps identify the stages of
development of regional associations are used. 5

Conclusions are drawn about the prospects of regional integration for a better
understanding of the potential role and place of regional integration in global governance, as the
world enters a new stage of the world order.
