The article considers the problems of war and peace in historical retrospective, where special attention paid to the issues of historical and biographical memory, the analysis of the family archive as an important component in the searching the information about the dead and missing family members during
the Great Patriotic War. Understanding the tragedy of the past and the problems of the present occurring in the XXI century, retrieving the information about missing relatives showing that war repercussion and grief are still affecting every family. Therefore, it is important to address the lessons of the past, it is necessary to transfer historical memory to the younger generation, citizens of Kazakhstan and the whole world, which will allow you to preserve the memory and learn from the experience of the past.
