The article gives a brief overview of the history of entrepreneurship as a social institution. Besides, the role and place of entrepreneurship in the social structure and economy of Kazakhstan society are considered. Based on the sources of near and farabroad, are analyzed the concepts of “entrepreneurship” and “entrepreneur”, their essence and content are disclosed. Carried out a comprehensive analysis.
