The article examines the features and possibilities of applying the methodological direction "Cultural history" in interdisciplinary research on the history of countries. As an example, fiction cinematography is used that illuminates various historical events and forms the so-called "historical myths". According to the results of the study, it turns out that the analysis and criticism of the artistic interpretation of the historical past and present, allows not only to reveal the facts of a free interpretation of history, but also to trace the evolution of society's views on historical events.
