Introduction. Studying the history of the development of healing practices in the steppe regions of Kazakhstan in modern times is relevant in light of new data about its practitioners, compared to previously known facts. Goals and Objectives. To reconstruct the historical stages of the formation of the Kazakh steppe healing school under Russian rule in Central Asia using specific individuals possessing the gift of healing as examples. Materials and Methods. The study identified and critically analyzed narrative oral sources, archival materials, pre-revolutionary and Soviet publications, and other documents. The research methodology utilized classical techniques of analysis and synthesis, deduction and induction, the principle of historicism, and others. Results. The study revealed a correlation between the education of Kazakh adolescents in Bukhara madrassas and the manifestation of healing abilities among their fellow graduates upon their return to their homelands. Conclusions. During the imperial period, there is some evidence of the development of a school of Kazakh steppe healing, including Kazakh graduates of the Bukhara madrassas, whose contribution to public health was underappreciated both during their lifetimes and during the Soviet period. This aspect of the history of national healthcare deserves in-depth study and the perpetuation of the names of those who contributed to the preservation of the health and numbers of the Kazakh ethnic group in the absence of official inpatient medical services.
