Abstract

The domestication of horses had a significant impact on the development of nomadic culture and played a crucial role in the formation of civilizations. Horses were used in agriculture, transportation, and military activities, expanding economic and social opportunities. The history of horse breeding in Kazakhstan holds a special place and remains an important part of agriculture to this day.

The relevance and significance of researching this topic lie in understanding the role of patronage and charitable activities in society, the economic importance of horse breeding, as well as the cultural and trade relations between Kazakhstan and Russia. Furthermore, studying horse breeding and the development of agriculture allows for an analysis of changes in the agricultural sector.

Based on archival data, the article explores the organization of exhibitions of Kazakh horses in the Russian Empire and their impact on the economy, social and cultural relations, as well as technological development. The exhibitions were organized to showcase achievements in horse breeding, promote new methods, and facilitate the exchange of experiences. These events were held in large cities such as Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as other regions, contributing to strengthening the ties between different parts of the empire.

The traditional skills of Kazakhs in horse breeding, such as breed selection, improvement, and herd preservation, helped to advance the industry. The economic significance of horse breeding was evident in its use in agriculture, transportation, and cavalry.

The patrons who supported the exhibitions contributed to the development of the agricultural sector and the strengthening of the economy. The breeding of thoroughbred horses increased productivity and expanded trade opportunities. Their contribution went beyond mere charity and had strategic importance. Supporting horse breeding strengthened the agricultural sector, which was the foundation of the Russian Empire's economy. Horse exhibitions demonstrated the interconnection between agriculture and culture, highlighting the economic and cultural role of horse breeding.
