Abstract

This article discusses the issue of the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site, its role, influence, and consequences in the socio-ecological aspect. During the study, archival materials, and narrative data from oral history were collected, and research work was carried out based on historical, comparative, and comparative research methods. The conclusions of world scientists and information related to the Semipalatinsk nuclear tests are systematized on the basis of quantitative and qualitative content analysis. The study revealed the presence of errors in statistical information that was disseminated during the Soviet Union and the discrepancy between official information and reality. Conclusion: the propaganda and political situation in information activities regarding the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site requires additional study of the issue for the correct distribution of the balance between man and nature.
