The article provides a comprehensive overview of the irrigation system of the Kazakh tribes in the Keles River valley. Evidence that the valley of the Keles River was the land of ancient civilizations is the fact that traces of settlements and sites of the Kangyui culture exist here today. At the end of the 19th century, the Keles river valley was part of the Altyn and Bolat volosts of the Tashkent district. During this period, the peoples of the Keles valley dug ditches and were engaged in agriculture. Most ditches from the Keles River are named after local tribes. This confirms that ditches were dug by local tribes that inhabited the valley and belonged to them. The article deals with the work of Russian travelers and researchers from the times of the tsarist government, as well as studies of the water management of the Soviet period. And the genealogical books (shezhire) of the authors of the region in question allow us to determine the history of the formation and settlement of tribes in the Keles river valley. In addition, the author used materials from a field ethnographic expedition conducted by him in 2020-2021
